Aikman Feeling No Lingering Effects From Concussions

Troy Aikman played 12 seasons in the NFL, all with the Cowboys

Over 12 years in the NFL, Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman absorbed his fair share of seemingly devastating concussions. But Aikman said this week that he is feeling no major lingering affects from his career--and he actually has some data to back it up.

I feel great,” Aikman, 47, told Newsweek this week. “I'm great.”

Out of curiosity, Aikman went to the Center for BrainHealth in Dallas last year.

"I was hearing what they do and I was really fascinated," he said. "They work with a lot of the Wounded Warriors that have had trauma in the field. So I asked the woman there, you know, I've never wanted to be tested but I think I want to come in and test this out.”

So he went. Two weeks passed after his visit before he received the results of the battery of tests he had undergone, and upon seeing them, Aikman breathed a sigh of relief.

“They were blown away,” Aikman said. “It was really peace of mind for me. I haven't had any issues. You hear about the different guys coming out, and it's a concern.”
