Aikman Doubts He'll Ever Join Cowboys Front Office

It's been rumored that the Cowboys might bring in Troy Aikman as a member of the front office

Earlier this week, Roger Staubach came out in support of the idea that Troy Aikman could be added to the Dallas Cowboys’ front office in a role similar to that of John Elway in Denver.

Earlier today, NBC5’s Richie Whitt opined that this would never, ever happen.

As it turns out, Richie’s thoughts on the matter are pretty much in lockstep with those of Aikman, himself.

Aikman, who has spent much of the week wondering aloud whether the recent coaching staff shuffle will actually improve the team (he seemingly doubts it), knows better than anyone how firm Jerry’s grip is on the franchise. Considering, he doubts whether the owner would hire him, even if he was willing to leave a cushy job in the FOX booth.

“I answered the question on Sunday and it’s just, ‘Oh, that’s an easy question, that’s an easy story, let’s go ask Troy about this.’ It just continues, and there’s not a story there,” Aikman told 1310-AM The Ticket, via the team’s official website. “As it relates to Dallas, which is where everyone here in the Metroplex goes with it is, ‘Oh, OK, Dallas.’ Well that’s not going to happen in Dallas because of the structure of this organization. I think everybody knows that.”
