Adrian Peterson’s immediate future in the NFL is still wholly unclear, but he’s taken a major step towards returning to the field.
Per Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com, Judge David Doty sided with Peterson on Thursday in his appeal of the indefinite suspension handed down by the NFL after he pleaded no contest to reckless assault on his son. Peterson and the NFL Players Association filed the appeal on the grounds that Commissioner Roger Goodell shouldn’t have applied a new league policy to Peterson in response to an incident that occurred before said policy was in place.
The lifting of his suspension makes Peterson an active NFL player once again, and potentially clears the way for him to play in 2015. He remains under contract with the Minnesota Vikings, but where the Vikings have stated publicly that they want Peterson back, reports have Peterson feeling highly uneasy about returning.
If Peterson doesn’t return to the Vikings, many believe Jerry Jones and the Cowboys would have some serious interest in bringing the 30-year-old to Dallas.
