Olympian Luis Yanez won his professional debut on Friday night, taking a majority decision over Julio Valadez in a four-round super flyweight bout.
Two judges scored the fight for Yanez, 40-36 and 39-37. The third gave two rounds to each fighter.
Yanez didn't see the fight as that close, saying Valadez "told me he was going to bring it, but he didn't bring it at all.
"I wanted a fight, not a grabbing match. That's all he did, hit and hold, hit and hold. He didn't want to face my power," Yanez said.
Yanez was a member of the U.S. national team at last year's Olympics in Beijing. He was dropped from the team shortly before the Games began in a controversy over training habits with U.S. coach Dan Campbell. Yanez was reinstated in time for the Olympics.
"Amateur and the Olympics was a great chapter in my life," Yanez said. "Not many people get to fight in the Olympics. I've been all around the world.
"I have my coaches with me now and not in the Olympics. It's my career now."
Yanez weighed in at 115 ½ pounds. Valadez fought at 114.
