UT's McCoy Wins Walter Camp Award

McCoy wins over Tebow, Bradford, Harrell

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy has been chosen as the 2008 player of the year by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

The junior passed for 3,445 yards with 32 touchdowns, while rushing for 576 yards and 10 scores. He is just the second Texas player to win the award, joining 1998 winner Ricky Williams.

McCoy was chosen Thursday from a list of finalists that included Florida's Tim Tebow, Oklahoma's Sam Bradford, and Texas Tech's Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree.

McCoy, Tebow and Bradford also are finalists for the Heisman Trophy.

The Walter Camp winner was chosen by the nation's 119 Football Bowl Subdivision coaches and sports information directors. The trophy will be presented Jan. 17 at the foundation's annual awards banquet in New Haven.
