Stuart Deane is once again teeing it up on the PGA Tour, this time in one of the biggest tournaments of the year.
Deane, UT-Arlington’s director of golf, is competing with the best in the world this week at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Brisbane, Australia native qualified after finishing among the low 20 scorers at the PGA Professional Championship last month in Oregon. The event will mark his second appearance at the PGA Championships and his 12th PGA event overall. Deane played in the 2014 event at Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky.
Deane also competed in May at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Irving for the third time in his career. He has made the cut in a PGA TOUR event twice since 2006.
UTA redshirt freshman golfer and Fort Worth native Zach Cole will serve as Deane’s caddy during the tournament.
Dean will start play in practice rounds on Monday. He’s scheduled to open the tournament Thursday morning at 6:25 a.m. off the No. 10 tee in a group that includes 2016 U.S. Open runner-up Shane Lowry from Ireland and Pablo Larrazabal from Spain.
