Two Members of A&M Commerce's Women's Basketball Team Killed in Crash

Two members of the A&M-Commerce women's basketball team were killed in a two-vehicle crash late Tuesday afternoon on Loop 286 in Paris, the university said late Tuesday night.

The school reported two student athletes were pronounced dead on arrival at Paris Regional Medical Center Tuesday evening while two others were listed in critical condition.

KXII-TV reports the deceased players have been identified as 20-year-old Aubree Butts of Lewisville and 21-year-old Devin Oliver of Rowlett.

The Dallas Morning News said Butts was a sophomore at TAMU-Commerce and a four-year starter at Lewisville High School while Oliver was a junior guard who started all 27 games this season and was the leading scorer in her senior season at Rowlett.

"This is an unspeakable tragedy and a loss that is felt by the entire university community," A&M-Commerce Dr. Dan Jones said on the school's website. "It is made more grievous by the dreams that will not be fulfilled. Our prayers go out to the loved ones of those we have lost."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with our entire women's basketball and student-athlete family right now," A&M-Commerce Director of Athletics Ryan Ivey said on the school's website. "We are saddened and heartbroken by the recent events, by our time being cut short with two great people who were full of life and Lion spirit."

A&M-Commerce reported officials are taking part in the investigation with the Paris Police Department.

NBC 5's Brian Scott, Johnny Archer and Holley Ford contributed to this report.
