Casey Mitchell rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns to lead Throckmorton to its third state title in four years with a 66-20 victory against Groom in the Class 1A Division II six-man championship Saturday.
The game ended on the 45-point mercy rule when Mitchell ran 26 yards for a score to start the second half. He had scoring runs of 55, 44 and 34 yards in the first half.
Throckmorton (14-0) won back-to-back titles in 2011-12. Groom is winless in three trips to championship games.
Throckmorton's Coletyn King rushed for 159 yards, threw a 28-yard touchdown pass, had a rushing TD and returned a kickoff 75 yards for a score.
Trenton Fields led Groom (13-2) with 77 yards passing and 34 rushing. He returned a fumble 22 yards for a touchdown.
Groom's Hayden Ritter caught six passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns from Carson Ritter.
