Thanks to Late Goal, FC Dallas Ties With Earthquakes

Kenny Cooper scored in the 87th minute to help FC Dallas extend its unbeaten streak to four matches with a 2-2 tie at home against the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday.

Arturo Alvarez had given last-place San Jose (2-7-3) a 2-1 lead in the 82nd minute after he beat defender Marcelo Saragosa and sent a curling left-footed shot into the top right corner f the net from outside the goalkeeper's box.

Dallas (2-6-4) scored the equalizer 5 minutes later when Brek Shea assisted on Cooper's goal, tapping a pass to Cooper from the top of the penalty circle. Cooper then placed the ball into the left corner of the net from about 6 yards for his team-leading sixth goal.

David Ferreira scored his first career goal to give Dallas a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute with a score from the top of the goalie's box. Jeff Cunningham set up the score after he raced past Michael Zaher and crossed a pass to Ferreira from outside the penalty box.

San Jose's first score came off of an own goal by Dallas captain Pablo Ricchetti in the 60th minute to tie the game at 1. The own goal came off a free kick by Shea Salinas which grazed Ricchetti's head and bounced into the right corner of the net.

Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman missed the match while serving a one-game suspension after an ejection during last week's win at Chicago. Hyndman was ejected in the 81st minute for "irresponsible behavior" for shouting with fans after he was hit by a bottle thrown from the stands.
