Stargazing: Stars Host Golden Knights Saturday

WHAT HAPPENS AGAINST VEGAS...

The Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights meet on Saturday night at American Airlines Center. Dallas and Vegas meet for the third and final game of the 2017-18 season series and for the second time in the Lone Star State. The Stars hold a 1-1-0 record against the Golden Knights in 2017-18, with a 0-1-0 mark against them on home ice. In the most recent game of the season series on Nov. 28 at T-Mobile Arena, Dallas shutout Vegas, 3-0. Stars goaltender Ben Bishop turned away all 34 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season and marked the first shutout loss in the history of the Vegas franchise. Forward Radek Faksa recorded a natural hat trick (3-0=3), with all three goals coming in the second period. He notched his first career hat trick and became the first NHL player to record a hat trick against the Golden Knights. In the first meeting of 2017-18 campaign, the Golden Knight defeated the Stars, 2-1, on Oct. 6 in the first regular season game in the history of the Vegas franchise. Forward Tyler Seguin potted the lone goal (1-0=1) for the Stars, with forward Devin Shore (0-1=1) and defenseman John Klingberg (0-1=1) logging the assists.

BISHOP ARTS DISTRICT

Goaltender Ben Bishop has earned a 6-2-0 record over his last eight games, with a .928 save percentage and a 2.24 goals against average with one shutout. In his last appearance against Nashville on Tuesday night, he saw his four-game overall winning streak (4-0-0) snapped along with his five-game home winning streak (5-0-0), recording only his second loss in 12 appearances on home ice this season. At American Airlines Center, the netminder has earned a 9-2-0 record in 12 games on home ice this season with a 1.85 GAA and a .935 SV% with one shutout. Among League goaltending leaders at home, he shares second in GAA (1.85), ranks third in SV% (.935) and shares fifth in wins (9). The native of Denver, Colo. has a 5-1-0 mark in his last six appearances at home, registering a 1.95 GAA and a .933 SV% with one shutout over that span. Bishop has posted a 13-8-0 record in 23 regular-season games in 2017-18, registering a 2.68 GAA and a .910 SV% with two shutouts. Among League leaders, he shares ninth in wins (13) and fourth in shutouts (2). In two career games against the Vegas franchise, Bishop has a 1-0-0 record and has stopped all 53 shots he's faced against them.

BENN THERE, DONE THAT

Stars captain Jamie Benn recorded an assist (0-1=1) on Tuesday night against the Predators and now has inked the scoresheet in three of his last four games (0-3=3). Benn shares third on the club with 24 points (11-13=24) in 29 games during the 2017-18 campaign, ranking second in goals (11) and sharing third in assists (13). On home ice at American Airlines Center, the captain has 10 points (4-6=10) in 13 games and is riding a two-game point streak (0-2=2), with points in five of his last seven games (2-4=6) in Dallas. The native of Victoria, B.C. has skated in two games this season against the Vegas Golden Knights and has registered three shots on goal.

KEEP ON TRUCKIN'

Defenseman Jamie Oleksiak registered two points (1-1=2) on Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators. Oleksiak recorded the third multi-point game of his NHL career and (last: Nov. 28, 2016 at St. Louis, (2-0=2)) and his first Gordie Howe Hat Trick (goal, assist and fighting major). Prior to Tuesday's game, Oleksiak had never recorded a goal and an assist in the same game. During the 2017-18 campaign, Oleksiak now has three points (1-2=3) in 20 games. He has skated in one career game against Vegas, recording two shots on goal. In parts of six NHL seasons, the defenseman has tallied 22 points (7-15=22) in 139 regular-season contests, all as a member of the Stars. The native of Toronto, Ont. was originally selected by Dallas in the first round (14th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
