Rocking in the Free Reign World

For the past several years, Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman, Cory Procter has been trying to prove himself to America's Team and its fans.

"I started 11 games last year as a back up," said Procter. "I'm still kinda in the back-up role and you know I'd like to secure down a spot."

He first joined the Dallas Cowboys back in November of 2005 after playing on the Detroit Lions practice squad.

While football is his first love, Procter's other passion is music.

"It's always been a part of my life, man, I love it," said Procter. "If anybody has been in music -- loves to do it. It's always gonna be there somehow ... so, you know, whether I'm in a band one day or this keeps going, I want to just be a part of it. That's what I want."

In the off-season he trades his helmet for drums as a member of the rock band Free Reign.

Procter isn't the only member of the Dallas Cowboys team with a taste for music.

Fellow teammates Marc Colombo and Leonard Davis make up the band along with lead guitarist Justin Chapman.

Recently the band rocked the crowd at Dallas' Granada Theater with fellow Cowboys Tony Romo and Jason Witten cheering them on.

While Free Reign's sound is a cross between metal and rock, Procter says he is a big country music fan.

"I love country music. The classics -- George Strait, you know, Tim McGraw. I love Tim McGraw ... a lot more of his old stuff, "said Procter. "I'm excited for the concert in the stadium.  I want to go to that one but, ah, there are an endless number of country music guys I like."
