The two high school football teams in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will be forced to wait four weeks longer than expected to christen their newly-renovated stadium, a new letter from the district superintendent says.
Initially, the district hoped to open Mustang-Panther Stadium Sept. 28, but the amount of rain North Texas has received since the beginning of September has delayed the stadium's opening a second time.
In a statement posted on the district's webpage Aug. 20, Dr. Robin Ryan, GCISD Superintendent, said rain and high winds forced crews to push back the completion date of the project, which, according to The Dallas Morning News, called for an updated exterior, new press box, restrooms, concession stands and spirit shops.
The renovation will cost $18 million.
The games for Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine high schools will be played at neutral sites through Oct. 19.
