Rangers Trade Pitcher to Red Sox

Wes Littleton traded for player to be named later

The Texas Rangers announced that right-handed pitcher Wes Littleton has been traded to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Littleton had been designated for assignment on November 20.

Littleton saw action in 12 big league contests out of the bullpen in 2008 after making a combined 68 relief appearances with Texas in 2006-07.

A fourth round selection by Texas in the 2003 June draft, Littleton posted a 1.73 ERA during his first major league season in 2006, the lowest figure by a rookie reliever in club history.

Overall in his major league career, Littleton has a 5-3 record with 3 saves and a 3.69 ERA over 80 career relief appearances for the Rangers.
