Rangers Drop Salty Onto Disabled List

Taylor Teagarden to pick up full-time catching duties

The Texas Rangers have placed catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia on the 15-day disabled list due to recurring numbness in his right hand.

Taylor Teagarden will be the everyday catcher until Saltalamacchia returns. Texas called up Kevin Richardson from Triple-A Oklahoma City before Saturday night's game against Boston to serve as the backup catcher.

Saltalamacchia left Friday night's game against the Red Sox in the fourth inning with the hand problem. He was scheduled to be examined by a specialist later on Saturday.
