Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is almost making it look easy. Or at least, something to that extent.
“I don’t think easy is the right word,” Prescott said. “It’s the work I’m putting in throughout the week. I have great veterans and great coaches who are putting me in great positions to have success on the field. It’s a lot of hard work that goes into this.”
Whatever it is, it’s working. Prescott completed 10-of-12 passes against the Dolphins, throwing two touchdown passes and running for two more in a lopsided 41-14 Dallas win against the Dolphins in AT&T Stadium.
“I don’t really pay attention to that, but it’s pretty cool, I guess,” Prescott said of his perfect 158.3 quarterback rating Friday night. “My first game in AT&T Stadium, I was excited. I felt some nerves earlier this week. But they were good nerves.”
“Any time you see a rookie come in and have the production he’s had, it’s surprising,” Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said. “From the day he walked in the door, he’s shown unique intangibles. He has rare intangibles, in terms of his leadership, his people skills and his ability to lead.”
Those intangibles are really making an impression on Prescott’s teammates, including the veterans on the roster.
“I’ve been very impressed with how Dak’s played,” Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo said. “To have depth at that position is a big, big bonus. Hopefully he can continue to do that. He’s a good kid, so you really root for him.”

“He wants to learn, he wants to work hard,” Jones said. “I think he’ll continue to not take anything for granted.”
Prescott will have his toughest test in the Cowboys next preseason game, which often includes more playing time for starters. Dallas’s third preseason matchup is against a very talented defense in the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, August 25.
