The slate is full of area teams that could see a bowl game in their near future.

TCU (10-3)

TCU will play Stanford in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. The game will be held Thursday, December 28 at 8:00 p.m.

TCU enters the bowl selection process after Saturday's loss in the Big XII Championship in Arlington to Oklahoma. The Horned Frogs finished ranked 15th in the final Top 25 Rankings selected by the College Football Playoff Committee.

SMU (7-5)

SMU will head to the Frisco Bowl Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Toyota Stadium. Their opponent was later announced as Louisiana Tech.

SMU finished their regular season with a 41-38 win over Tulane in late November. The Mustangs are looking for their first bowl appearance since the 2012 Hawaii Bowl where SMU beat Fresno State, 43-10.

UNT (9-4)

The Mean Green of UNT will be heading to The Big Easy for their bowl. The Mean Green will play in the New Orleans Bowl against the Troy Trojans on December 16.

The Mean Green of UNT are coming off of a loss in the Conference USA Championship against Florida Atlantic on Saturday. They are searching for their first back-to-back bowl appearance since the early 2000's when the Mean Green made it to the New Orleans Bowl every year from 2001-2004. The past two bowls for the Mean Green have been close to home in the Cotton Bowl at the Heart of Dallas Bowl in 2014 and 2016.

Texas A&M (7-5)

A season that had the Aggies showing their head coach the door, has resulted in a bowl game for the maroon and white. Head Coach Kevin Sumlin was fired from Texas A&M after a disastrous loss to LSU to end the regular season. The Aggies will play in the Belk Bowl in Charlotte against Wake Forest. An interim coach will lead the Aggies into the bowl. Jimbo Fisher, formerly of Florida State, will be announced as the Aggies new head coach on Monday.

Texas (6-6)

The Texas Longhorns will be traveling down Highway 290 to the aptly-named Texas Bowl in Houston. The Longhorns will play the Missouri Tigers in the game at NRG Stadium on December 27 at 8 p.m.

Texas Tech (6-6)

Texas Tech will be traveling East to play in the Birmingham Bowl in Alabama. The Red Raiders will play the USF Bulls.
