AP NFL Awards To Be Presented Through Super Bowl Week

The NFL's MVP will be announced the night of Super Bowl XLV.

The Associated PressNFL awards for the 2010 season will be announced on the NFL Network throughout Super Bowl week, with the league MVP Award to be announced on Super Sunday--February 6--it was announced Tuesday.

The award for Comeback Player of the Year will be announced next Monday, the 31. Offensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year will be announced on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year will be announced in a joint showcase on Friday.

Defensive Player of the Year will be announced on the eve of the Super Bowl and, as mentioned, the league MVP will be announced the night of the big game.

It is the first time the awards have been presented in such a manner, with television specials accompanying the release of the award winners by the Associated Press. The awards are voted on by a 50-person panel of writers who cover the league for the news agency.

"We're elated to announce AP's annual pro football honors on the NFL Network in the run up to the Super Bowl," said AP vice president Lou Ferrara, per ESPN. "This will provide a showcase for the awards after years of building a strong and credible voting system for picking the winners."
