Melanie Oudin Kicked Out Of NYC Hotel Room

Not because she was too loud, but because she didn't book more than a week. And the Marriott doesn't need a popular star in their hotel.

Everybody loves new American tennis sensation Melanie Oudin.

Well, everybody except the Marriott Hotel at Times Square.

That was where Oudin was staying — because if you're 17 and in New York, you want to be in the middle of the action. But because she’s never advanced this far in a major and her path was littered with high-ranking players whose last name ended in “ova,” Oudin booked her hotel room for one week. She shared the king-sized bed in the room with her mom.

Then down went Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (ranked 36). Then Elena Dementieva (the 4th seed). Then Maria Sharapova (the former world number one). Then Nadia Petrova (the 13th seed).

So Oudin, whose stay in New York had been elongated, needed a play to hang her racket at the end of the night. The Marriott Hotel made Oudin and her mom leave when their reservation was up, sports reports said.

The Marriott said it was shocked to hear the news of an ousted Oudin.

"We had no knowledge Melanie Oudin was staying at the hotel. There were no guests registered under her name. The hotel was absolutely shocked to receive this media inquiry," a hotel spokesperson said.

According to Sports Business Daily, Oudin’s agent Sam Duvall and manager John Tobias booked her a room at the Intercontinental after she was evicted from the Marriott. Don’t worry, she can afford it now.

Tobias also mentioned that none of his clients, including up-and-coming tennis pro John Isner, will be back at the Marriott any time soon.

Fortunately ,Oudin found a place to stay; otherwise, she might have had to ask Roger Federer if he could spare some room in his $3,075 a night, custom-designed space at the The Carlyle. Of course, then she’d have the crying newborn twins around, and that might not be terribly restful.

Oudin has become America’s new tennis sweetheart, and she’s captured New York -- so having her stay in any hotel is a nice little bit of promotion. The Marriott apparently doesn’t need that, what with the travel industry booming right now and all.

The hotel didn't comment on the incident -- but we can guess that when the endorsements come rolling in for the 17-year-old, the Marriott will not be one of them.
