Mean Green Standout Dreams of NFL Future

Kyler Murray isn’t the only former member of the Allen Eagles with NFL dreams. Jalen Guyton, Murray’s former high school wide receiver, has them too.

“We’ve been in a room before or at the dinner table before, watching games and dreaming,” Guyton said. “You know, back before Kyler Murray was Kyler Murray.”

Guyton is working hard to become a household name in his own right. That’s why the former University of North Texas standout and several other prospects are training under the watchful eye of Olympic legend Michael Johnson at his performance center in McKinney.

“You’ve got to show that you can perform under pressure, show your athleticism as an athlete, not necessarily just as a football player,” Johnson said. “I think (Guyton) is one of those guys that understands that.”

Guyton knows his road to the NFL won’t be easy but he’s dealt with challenges before. He bounced from Notre Dame to a trip to junior college before eventually landing with Seth Littrell’s Mean Green football program.

“More than anything, I think my path has shown me who is in my corner, who I can rely on and it’s also shown me what kind of person I am,” Guyton said. “(It shows) my will to compete, my will to overcome and succeed.”

The 2019 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 25th in Nashville, Tennessee.
