Mean Green Race Past ULM 95-80 at Super Pit

Six players scored in double-figures and Adam McCoy came off the bench to score 20 points to help lead the Mean Green to a 95-80 victory over ULM Thursday evening at The Super Pit.

The Mean Green, who has now won four games in a row, ran away from the Warhawks with a superb 57 percent shooting performance from the field in the second half en route to a season-high 95 points.

Joining McCoy in double-digit scoring was Eric Tramiel (17), Tristan Thompson (13), Dominique Johnson (12), Collin Dennis (10) and George Odufuwa had 10 points.

North Texas (16-10, 9-6) now trails the all-time series 27-17 but has won the last four meetings over ULM. The four-game winning streak by the Mean Green matches their season high and it is the third time this season they have accomplished the feat. Over the four-game span North Texas has averaged 88 points a game.

After the Warhawks (9-17, 5-10) had cut the lead down to 43-40 to begin the half, North Texas got a boost from the hot-shooting Adam McCoy. The senior from Dallas scored eight points during the midst of a 12-2 run including two consecutive three-pointers to give the Mean Green a 55-42 lead with 13 minutes to play.

The Mean Green had trouble shooting from the field to begin the game, going only 7-of-24 from the field in the first 13 minutes. However with the game tied 21-21, North Texas responded by going on a 13-4 run, including two three-pointers from Thompson and a running layup at the end of the shot clock by White and the Mean Green took a 35-30 lead into halftime.

Although North Texas shot only 36 percent from the field in the first half they still managed to find a balanced scoring attack. Odufuwa scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds and four other Mean Green players had at least five points each, including McCoy who came off the bench with five points.
