With the 2011 Super Bowl in Arlington less than two years away, 50 North Texas mayors huddled for the first time on Monday in, of all places, the Ballpark in Arlington.
Mayors from Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington assured leaders of smaller cities that they stand to benefit from the mega-event.
"This isn't about one city or two or three," said Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief. "It's about all of us."
Arlington's mayor also stressed unity.
"I haven't seen a hint of jealousy between Dallas and Fort Worth and Arlington," said Mayor Robert Cluck. "It's just a win-win for everybody."
Moncrief added that if the Super Bowl goes well, North Texas could bid for other big events such as the World Cup or even the Olympics.
The meeting was organized by the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee.
