The celebration of the Dallas Mavericks' first NBA title will climax Thursday morning with a victory parade in downtown Dallas.
Team spokeswoman Sarah Melton confirmed the date late Monday afternoon. She said the route and other details would be announced Tuesday.
The parade route, according to a Dallas blueprint from 2006 could start at City Hall and end at the Mavs home, the American Airlines Center.
The Downtown Dallas Association says the 2006 plan is being used as a base for the 2011 plan with improvements to police presence and public safety in order to keep crowds safe.
According to the 2006 plan, the mile-long parade would kick off at 11 a.m. Thursday morning just west of Dallas City Hall at the corner of Young and Griffin. Interlocking barricades would line the streets going west on Young St. then turn north on Houston and lead past Dealey Plaza.
In the 2006 plan, three first-aid stations and a hundred portable restrooms would be placed along the parade route as it lead just south of the American Airlines Center in Victory Park at Houston and Olive.
None of the details from the 2006 plan were confirmed by city officials on Monday. Dallas Mayor Dwaine Caraway plans to announce the route and other details about the parade on Tuesday.
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is picking up the tab. Cuban repeated Monday that he will personally pay for the celebration, as well as extra police, which will cost several hundred thousand dollars.

In an email Sunday night, City of Dallas spokesman Frank Librio had said the event "will likely take place the week of June 20th." Later reports changed that date to this Thursday, June 16.
