Mavs Shoot an Air Ball With New Jerseys

The iconic, identifying landmark of the Dallas skyline - Reunion Tower - is difficult, if not impossible, to discern. And the skyline with the city name underneath reminds me of the 1980s Denver Nuggets.

Other than that, I hate the Mavs’ new alternate jerseys for the 2015 season.

It was a cool idea for owner Mark Cuban to take suggestions from fans on designing the team's alternate jerseys. But, let’s admit it, it flopped.

Maybe they’re not as ugly as those shiny silver outfits the Mavs wore for only one game back in 2003, but the jerseys designed by a fan and unveiled at American Airlines Center Tuesday aren’t original or hip or … anything.

I’m excited about Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons and the Mavs this season. But not the uniforms they’ll be playing in.

A native Texan who was born in Duncanville and graduated from UT-Arlington, Richie Whitt has been a mainstay in the Metroplex media since 1986. He’s held prominent roles on all media platforms including newspaper (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Observer), radio (105.3 The Fan) and TV (co-host on TXA 21 and numerous guest appearances, including NBC 5). He currently lives in McKinney with his wife, Sybil, and two very spoiled dogs.
