Mavs Make Plate Appearance

NBA champs’ logo to adorn specialty license plates.

Nothing like striking while the iron remains hot.

Most Dallas Mavericks fans presumably are still juiced about the NBA championship, and the opportunistic folks at MyPlates.com, the official purveyor of vanity license plates for the Texas Department of Transportation, hope to capitalized on the juiciness.

The license plate pressers in a press release — oh, and by the way, MyPlates, the dateline indicates the location of origin for the information not the location of the intended audience — today announced the pending release of a specialty Mavs license plate.

Curiously, though, the plate features the team’s logo but no reference to 2010-11 NBA championship even though said press release hammers home the point that the Mavs won it all last month.

Space limitations, maybe? A matter of shelf life? Sin of omission?

Whatever the case, the plates won’t ship until the fall, but interested parties can register for updates from the manufacturer at its “Dallas Mavericks (Basketball) – Specialty Plate in Texas” page, and most interested parties likely know it’s a basketball team.

Bruce Felps owns and operates East Dallas Times, an online community news outlet serving the White Rock Lake area. He’s still pretty juiced about the Mavs’ title and he’s not even a basketball fan.
