Reports: Longhorn Player Kicked Off Team For Racist Message

Backup center violated team rules, officials say.

Texas backup center Buck Burnette has been dismissed from the No. 5 Longhorns team after a violation of team rules.

Coach Mack Brown said the school won't disclose what team rules were violated but, according to Deadspin.com, Burnette placed a racist epithet on his Facebook page shortly after Sen. Barack Obama was elected the nation's next president.

Deadspin.com said Burnette later posted an apology on his Facebook page, which has since been taken offline.

The sophomore from Wimberley played in 20 games for the Longhorns, including seven this season at center or on special teams.

He missed the Colorado and Oklahoma games because of injury.
