Living the Dream One Kick at a Time

If  you didn't know any better, you would say Drew Moor was born with a soccer ball waiting at his feet.

"If you can find something, you know, a job or something that interests you that much, you are going to love going to your job every day, and that's obviously what I've found in soccer," said Moor.

The FC Dallas defender, lives, breathes and eats everything there is to do with the sport.

"It was first on my mind, with every decision I made throughout the day," said Moor. "While I was at school, while I was waking up, when I was eating food, it was, 'God, I want to play soccer. I wish I was on the field right now.'"

Moor grew up in North Texas and has been playing with FC Dallas for the past five years.

"One thing FC Dallas does a great job of is, they get us out into the community. You know, we go and we coach camps, we sign autographs for kids. I've been to a bunch of schools and spoken with the kids," said Moor.

Moor encourages students to find something they love, something they think about doing all the time, just like he did.

"I've been to several career days. You know, I tell them, 'Even if it's not soccer, find something that you love, find something, you know, you think about, you know, doing all the time."

In addition to playing professional soccer, Moor also makes time to work on  his college degree.

"I left school early, so I have to get my degree still, which I'm still actually taking classes right now, which is very important to me," said Moor. "I was encouraged to leave early because I was ready to become a professional. You know, I figured, you know, 'Why not?'"

Moor admits he also spends a lot of time watching the game he loves so much, in addition to playing.

He is also very close to his family and doesn't spend too much time out on the town.

"I love my parents; I have a dog there. I'm close buddies with one or two of the guys on the team that I'll hang with, everyone once in a while," said Moor. "I kind of like to keep it low key, you know. I have no problem with watching TV, watching a movie, watching DVRed shows on my couch at home."

One of his most favorite places to eat is The Bagel Factory in Frisco.

"Coming here, you can get egg sandwiches, you can get turkey, salmon, fish, all good stuff, and (that) gives me good energy. And coffee, I always get coffee," said Moor.

Moor has already played on the U.S. men's soccer national team and wouldn't mind playing for the United States in the World Cup one day.

"The World Cup is coming up, and you know, it would be a dream. It would be unbelievable. It's in South Africa. It's one of the biggest sporting events in the world and would be such an honor," said Moor.
