Lincoln Girls Stuff Seagoville

Lincoln high girl hoopsters put beating on Seagoville

The Dallas Lincoln High School girls basketball team recently laid a beating of near Biblical proportions on playoff opponent Seagoville high.

The final of Tuesday night’s early round game had Lincoln thrashing Seagoville 81-5, a 76-point beat-down. Seagoville, according to a story posted to the ESPN Dallas/Fort Worth website, managed but 1 point during the second half, while Lincoln netted another 24 after leading 57-4 at halftime.

Gotta protect and extend those leads, sportsmanship be damned. It’s playoffs, baby, just win.

The Lincoln margin of victory bordered on epic, but fell short of what has to be the area’s all-time display of, shall we say, questionable gamesmanship. That dubious distinction belongs to Dallas Covenant, which about two years ago gave the girls of Dallas Academy — a team of special-needs students, mind you — a 100-0 flogging as punishment for trying. Their coach was later fired, but refused to apologize for victory.

Lincoln, now 25-3, had an easy go of things against 11-19 Seagoville, but face a much tougher next-round opponent in Frisco Liberty high team sporting a 26-6 record and No. 6 ranking by ESPN D/FW.

Liberty might just put a karmic stuff on Lincoln’s easy first-round layup.
