Lance Armstrong to Swim Race for Charity

Armstrong to race fitness coach Mary Eggers in 50-meter swim

While he's in Buffalo to give a speech this weekend, Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong will engage in a friendly competition -- but not on his bicycle.

Armstrong will hit the pool Saturday to race fitness coach Mary Eggers in a 50-meter kickboard sprint at the University at Buffalo.

The event billed as the "Duel in the Pool" came about after Eggers, who works with the Teens Living with Cancer charity, challenged Armstrong to the race via Twitter. To her surprise, he accepted.

The seven-time Tour de France winner formed the Lance Armstrong Foundation after his own cancer diagnosis.

Armstrong will give a talk later Saturday as part of the university's Distinguished Speakers Series.

The kickboard race will raise money for Teens Living with Cancer in Buffalo and Rochester.
