Judge: UT Coach Garrido to Enter Guilty Plea

The attorney for Texas baseball coach Augie Garrido says his client plans to plead guilty Monday to a drunken driving charge.

Garrido's attorney, Roy Minton, confirmed the plan to enter a guilty plea to The Associated Press on Friday.

The story was reported Friday in the Austin American-Statesman. County Court-at-Law Judge Elisabeth Earle told the newspaper that Garrido will enter the guilty plea.

The 69-year-old Garrido was arrested earlier this month near Austin's downtown entertainment district. He later apologized and said he made a serious mistake. He was suspended by the university and said he would not be in the dugout for the Longhorns' first four games.

Garrido's 1,629 wins are the most in Division I history. He has won five national championships, three with Cal-State Fullerton and two with Texas.
