First Round of U.S. Army All-American Nominees Released

Texas rules the list

Remember those position rankings we did from February through April?

Now we can start seeing how accurate they were as the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl has released its nominees for the 2010 game, which will take place on Jan. 9 at San Antonio's Alamodome.

The list of nominees is just that -- nominees -- and it's a long one, but it includes 49 Texans, which is a good number more than any other state, which further lends proof that the best high school football in the country is played right here in our backyard.

Anyway, North Texas was also well-represented in the nominee list with 25 -- more than half of the state's nominees.

Of the 25, I've seen nine play, and they're all the real deal -- Luke Joeckel, OL, Arlington; Daryl Williams, OL, Lake Dallas; D.J. Jones, RB, Denison; Taylor Bible, DL, Denton Guyer; Scotty Young, QB, Denton Ryan; Daniel Noble, DL, Flower Mound Marcus; James Franklin, QB, Lake Dallas; Zach Lee, QB, McKinney; Cade Foster, LB, Southlake Carroll.

I know that Bible, the second-rated defensive tackle in the country by Rivals.com, who's committed to Texas, has plans to play in the U.S. Army's new rival, the Under Armour All-American Bowl.

Here's the rest of the list:
