Pizza Hut, Burger King put execs on the wager line

Apparently not all the bets were in on the Mavs-Heat series.

Dallas-based Pizza Hut and Miami-based Burger King just got in on the wagering action today with their joint announcement saying each put up a respective top executive as the pot.

So, Mavs win and Burger King President Steve Wiborg slides pies into a pizza oven. Heat win, [ugh] that hurt by fingertips to type, and Pizza Hut General Manager Brian Niccol flips burgers your way.

The press release, of course, contains your requisite corporate smack talk. The Pizza Hut guy was quoted as saying, “Wiborg better get ready for the heat of the Pizza Hut ovens. We are sizing up his apron now.”

Wilborg countered with, Miami will “bring home a ‘WHOPPER®’ of a victory,” and really, Steve, nobody in the media would dream of stealing the name “Whopper,” all caps or not, so there’s no real need for the circle-R, OK?

Maybe we could settle all these bets off court with a three-round bout between Mavs Man and the creepy Burger King king.
