Farewell, Texas Stadium

Cowboys play final regular season home game at Texas Stadium.

The Dallas Cowboys said goodbye to Texas Stadium on Saturday at their last regular-season home game.

Before Friday, fans such as David Moore had only seen Texas Stadium on television. The boy was one of a group of fans walking the field before Saturday's game.

"I thought it was smaller," he said.

His older brother Christian tried to kick field goals from 5 yards out, but didn't have the leg just yet. He also said he can't believe how rough the turf feels.

"When Tony Romo gets tackled or slides, I bet it hurts," he said.

Joey San Miguel drove all the way from Brownsville to come to Saturday's game.

"There are a lot of memories -- tailgating, cheering, a lot of memories," he said.

Fans at the game saw more security at Saturday's game. Irving police said they were watching for fans who tried to walk out with pieces of the stadium.

Most of the stadium, from chairs to signs -- and even the end zone turf -- was auctioned off.

Longtime Cowboys fan Virgil Haston said if he could have any part of the stadium, he'd ask for the most famous symbol -- the blue star in the center.

"Because that's it -- that's the Dallas Cowboys," he said.
