Elliott Warms Up Before Blue-White Scrimmage, Doesn't Participate

The rookie running back is dealing with a tight hamstring

First round running back Ezekiel Elliott's hamstring showed improvement on Sunday prior to the team's Blue-White scrimmage.

Elliott warmed up with the team, took hand-offs, ran routes and ran smoothly before the scrimmage started. "Zeke" had only worked on the side with the athletic training staff prior to that point. No. 21 injured his hamstring nearly a week ago.

The Cowboys are being very cautious with Elliott, knowing how much they're relying on him during the season. Team VP Stephen Jones isn't concerned with the running back's tight hamstring.

"I've been saying all along, I'm not worried about Zeke. Zeke will be fine. You know, when you're in training camp it's a long journey. When you have some soft tissue soreness, the best way to prevent from being a real issue is give him some time to get right again," said Jones. "Zeke's injury hasn't been a problem for us."

There's still no timetable for when Elliott will return to the field.
