Dirk Nowitzki's Injuries Have Him Talking Retirement

Dirk Nowitzki is the Dallas Mavericks.

He's only played in five NBA games this season because of a sore Achilles, and now he's talking about retirement at the end of this NBA season.

"If things don't go so well, and it hurts everywhere, it could be that 2017 will be the end," Nowitzki told German magazine Sport Bild.

The Mavericks will not make the playoffs this year, and they look like they will earn a high lottery pick as they are tied with the Philadelphia 76ers for the worst record in the NBA.

Nowitzki is clearly frustrated by the injury and maybe his comments are emotional and he will give it another go after this season, but maybe not.

"But just because I have signed a two-year contract doesn't automatically mean that I will play for two years. It could happen next year," he said.
