Dirk Nowitzki Recognized Before Texas House and Senate

Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitizki was honored in Austin Tuesday afternoon appearing before the Texas House and Senate.

The Mavs forward met Governor Greg Abbott and received a resolution in his honor for his accomplishments on the court and in community service.

Gov. Abbott called Nowitzki the "greatest player in Mavs history."

The 40-year-old, who retired in April was congratulated by legislators and posed for photos.

Senator Royce West and Senator Nathan Johnson also spoke before the Senate recognizing the Dallas basketball legend.

Nowitzki, who is a 14-time All-Star, led the Mavericks to their only championship in 2011.
