Dallas Madison Prepared for State Basketball Tournament

The UIL boys basketball state tournament tips off this week in San Antonio.

James Madison High School will be Dallas ISD’s lone representative at the Alamodome. The Trojans will play San Antonio Cole in the Class 3A semifinals on Thursday afternoon.

“It’s just an honor for us to be one of the last four teams in our classification that’s going down to San Antonio this weekend to try to win a state championship,” said Madison head coach Damien Mobley. ”I’m extremely proud of this group because I know, just to be honest, during the first half of the season, I had doubts about the success this group could obtain. But they never held their heads down.”

A chance to play for a state championship trophy won't be the only thing on the line when sophomore guard Jerome Rogers takes the court against San Antonio Cole on Thursday.

“It’s just bragging rights,” said Rogers. “Everybody on one side of my family has a state championship so it would be great for me to get a state championship so I could say that I won and I’m not the only one left out.”

The Class 3A state championship game will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 10:00 a.m.
