Dallas Lincoln Lands Former Coordinator

James Argenti chosen as new head man at Lincoln

James Argenti knows his way around Dallas ISD football.

The longtime coach of Lincoln, Pinkston and Adamson (25 years worth of time) reportedly accepted the head coaching job at Dallas Lincoln last week, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Argenti led Pinkston to a 6-5 record and a bi-district playoff appearance out of District 11-4A last season, but will now make the jump to Lincoln, where he served as offensive coordinator from 2000 to 2003.

Lincoln is consistently one of the more talent-rich schools in the DISD and went 6-5 last year, losing in the area round to Denison, but the record looks worse than the team's on-field performance was, as the Tigers forfeited four games at the beginning of the season because they were using an ineligible player.

Lincoln is always loaded with talent, and 2009 should be no different. Despite losing eight players to college scholarships last season (four being Division I scholarships), the Tigers are still the odds-on favorite to win District 12-4A despite being the smallest school in the district in terms of enrollment numbers.

Argenti will have a stud quarterback to build his team around in SMU commit Don Canyon, as well as an animal at linebacker in Lakeem Wilson to build his defense around.

With a 60-50-2 career head-coaching record, Argenti should be set to pad those numbers a bit this year, as Lincoln will have a great chance to go undefeated in the regular season once again (barring any forfeits) behind a defense that had one five-game stretch when they outscored opponents 207-0. That's right, that says "0".
