Dak Prescott is one of the best leaders Jason Garrett said he’s ever been around.
It’s not an accident.
Prescott understands the importance of leadership, and he spends a lot of time talking to Garrett about leadership styles.
“He’s one of the most natural leaders I’ve ever been around,” Garrett said. “He just has an amazing away of setting the right way to do things - that’s No.1 when you’re in a leadership role.
“Then his ability to connect to different people in all walks of life, different ages, different positions, different walks of like.

“It’s just getting guys to play for him. It’s a big part of his job as a quarterback.”
Garrett declined to comment on Philadelphia defensive back Malcolm Jenkins’ comments about owner Jerry Jones.
Jenkins called Jones a bully because of his comments concerning his comments Wednesday about the Cowboys and the national anthem.
Free-agent defensive tackle Kony Ealy is getting a chance to compete for playing time at defensive tackle with David Irving (did not report) and Maliek Collins (PUP list) out for now.
Ealy, entering his fifth season, spent last season with the New York Jets. He has 19 starts in four years.
He had one sack, one interception and 11 tackles last season.
“He was someone we spent a lot of time on when he came out in the draft,” Garrett said. “He did a lot of good things in Carolina at different times throughout his career.
“He was very impactful in the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. We’re trying to get him back on track and doing things he needs to do to play his best football.”
The Cowboys took left guard Connor Williams in the second round, in part, because of how he performed at at a workout at The Star for players from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Williams attended Coppell High School.
“Typically, if you’re a highly-regarded player it’s a handshake and a meeting,” Garrett said. “Connor had as good a workout as we’ve ever had on Dallas Day.”
He was first in line, hustling like you’ve never seen anybody hustle in an environment like that. He really made a favorable impression us that day.
The Cowboys don’t have any rules about social media, but Garrett said he spends a lot of time telling his players not to let it affect their focus.
