Isa Garcia's ninth-inning RBI single stood as the only run in the game as the Cats edged the AirHogs 1-0 on Tuesday night in Grand Prairie.
Cats starter Jae Jung with 6 2/3 innings and limited the AirHogs to no runs on just two hits before leaving the game in the seventh. Grand Prairie starter Pat Mahomes worked eight scoreless frames, permitting only four hits before departing the scoreless game.
Both teams had golden scoring opportunities in the eighth inning as the Cats got a one-out double from Aljay Dvais and a walk from Brian Fryer before Cameron Blair bounced into an inning-ending double play. In the eighth for Grand Prairie, Drew Holder reached on a leadoff single, moved to second on a sacrifice fly before Aaron Garza walked, Jay Yaconetti struck out and David Espinosa was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Facing reliever Alex Morales, Cesar Nicholas hit a hard liner directly at the left fielder Davis to end the inning with the bases full.
In the top of the ninth, reliever John Wesley retired the first two hitters before John Allen singled to right. Pat O'Sullivan drew a walk before Garcia drove home Allen from second with a single to right.
The AirHogs threatened in the ninth with a leadoff walk and a one-out single, but stranded both runners and Cats' closer Dustin Cameron struck out Drew Holder and got Noel Trevino to ground to short to end the game. It was Cameron's eighth save of the season.
Morales earned his first win in a Cats' uniform after allowing no runs in two-thirds of an inning. Wesley (0-1) suffered the loss after permitting the run in the ninth.

It was the third shutout of the season for the Cats' pitching staff as four pitchers combined for the 1-0 whitewash. The victory was the Cats’ league-leading 14th of the year.
The two teams close out the three-game series on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Dan Grybash goes for Fort Worth with Nat Harris on the mound for Grand Prairie.
