Some the world's top PGA gofers are quietly playing in Plano today at Gleneagles Country Club.

The field of 78 players are trying to qualify for this year's British Open. Monday's qualifying round is the only one of its kind in the United States.  It's open to the top 78 PGA golfers, that have not already qualified for the British Open.

The top 8 finishers Monday will automatically gain entry into the 2010 British Open which starts July 15 at the famed links at St Andrews.
Monday's round offers spectators an up close and personal look at some of golf's greatest ball strikers.

The 36-hole qualifier is open to the public and as of 10 a.m. there were only a handful of spectators on the course.

Just of a few of the big name players in the field; Davis Love III, Woody Austin, Rory Sabbatini, Ricky Barnes, Boo Weekley, Colleyville resident Chad Campbell and Texas Christian University alum J.J. Henry.

Tour pros not already qualified for the British Open are only allowed to play in one qualifying tournament. The other qualifiers will be held in India, Australia and Europe.

We'll keep you updated on if any of the golfers hit a hole-in-one like former Cowboy quarterback Troy Aikman.
