Roshauud Paul ran for the winning touchdown with 1:17 to play as Bremond rallied with 21 fourth-quarter points Thursday to beat Albany 28-21 in the Class 2A Division II championship game.

Bremond (15-0) won its second state championship game in six appearances. The previous title was in the 1981 1A final and in this year's final AP Class 2A poll, Bremond ranked fourth to Albany's sixth position.

Albany (14-1) led 21-14 after three quarters as Drew Neece passed 26 yards to Alex Faith for one touchdown and ran one yard for another. Stevie Phillips also scored on a one-yard run for the Lions. Paul's 39-yard pass to Josh White in the second quarter had been Bremond's only score.

But Roshauud Paul went to work in fourth quarter, converting on fourth down with a 4-yard run to set up RayAndre Browning's 13-yard touchdown run. Then, Paul scrambled 35 yards for the tying touchdown. After Joseph Williams' second interception of the game, Paul went to work from the Albany 37 before running 23 yards for the game-winner.

Paul gained 149 rushing yards in 28 carries, and completed 6 of 10 passes for 79 yards for the Bremond Tigers. Browning had 77 yards in 14 carries as the Tigers totaled 281 yards on 56 carries.

Bremond's defense held Albany to 76 yards in the second half. Albany drove to the Bremond 33 before the game's last pass fell incomplete as time ran out.

Neece led Albany with 50 rushing yards in 16 carries and passed for 108 yards.

Albany was seeking their third state championship in six tries and the first since winning back-to-back Class 1A titles in 1960 and '61.
