Brahmas Beat Americans 2-1 in Shootout

Texas erases early deficit to win in Allen

The Brahmas erased an early deficit to come back and beat the Allen Americans 2-1 in a shootout.

The Americans got on the board first, outshooting the Brahmas 12-3 in the first period and getting a score from Joshua Hepditch just before the first intermission. But the Brahmas changed the momentum in the middle frame, holding Allen to only six shots and tying the score at one goal each behind Brendon Hodge's 11th goal of the season.

After a scoreless third period and overtime, the Brahmas and Americans headed to a shootout.

In the shootout, Mark Guggenberger saved four of five attempts, while Phil Fox and Ross Rouleau converted to lift the Brahmas. For Rouleau, it was his second game-winner of the season. Guggenberger made 26 saves on 27 shots to pick up his 16th victory of the season.

The Brahmas are back in action on Friday when they travel to Tulsa to take on the Oilers at the BOK Center. The Brahmas then host the Oilers at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Saturday at 7;45 p.m. and Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
