Baylor Tops Women's NCAA Field as Bracket Leaks

Texas and Texas A&M also made the NCAA tournament

The top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears are a No. 1 seed in the NCAA women's basketball tournament, the selection committee announced Monday.

The Lady Bears, who finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in both the Associated Press and the Coaches polls, have won their last 23 games -- the longest active winning streak in Division I women's basketball.

Baylor is the top seed in the Greensboro Region and will take on No. 16 seed Abilene Christian in the opening round. The Lady Bears have made 15 straight trips to the NCAA tournament.

Texas A&M made the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the Chicago Region and will play No. 13 seed Wright State in Round One. Texas is the No. 7 seed in the Portland Region. The Longhorns match up with No 10. Indiana in the first round.

This year marked the first time since 2006 that Connecticut isn't a No. 1 seed, meanwhile, Tennessee sneaked in to the field as a No. 11 seed. The Lady Vols have been in every NCAA Tournament since the first one in 1982.

The bracket was mistakenly put out early on ESPNU several hours before the network had its selection show on Monday night.

ESPN apologized for its error and aired an early selection show to release the brackets.
