Baylor, Texas A&M Win Titles at New Balance

Baylor won the men's title with 65 points on a record-setting Saturday at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, while Texas A&M took the women's crown with 72 points at the Armory Track and Field Center.
 

LSU's LaTavia Thomas set the meet record in the women's 800 meters in 2:04.54, breaking the mark she set here last year of 2:04.66.
 

Walter Henning, also of LSU, set the meet mark in the weight throw with a toss of 72 feet, 8½ inches, eclipsing the mark of 72-7¼ set last year by Egor Agafonov of Kansas.
 

In the men's pole vault, Renaud Lavillenie of Clermont-Ferrand, a college in France, cleared 18-8¼ to top the mark of 18-0½ set by Jordan Scott of Kansas last year.
 

LSU finished second in the men's standings with 60 points, followed by Texas with 59½.
 

In the womens standings, Baylor finished second with 68 points and Connecticut third at 56.
 

More than 100 schools competed in the two-day meet.
