Balta's 4 RBIs Help TCU Past Texas Tech, 12-2

A.J. Balta had four RBIs, including a three-run double in the second inning, to help sixth-seeded TCU make easy work of third-seeded Texas Tech with a 12-2 win in the opening round of the Big 12 baseball tournament.

Balta finished 2 for 3 for the Horned Frogs (31-22), who advanced to face No. 7 seed West Virginia on Thursday. Michael Landestoy, Adam Oviedo and Conner Shepherd each had two RBIs for TCU, and Nick Lodolo (7-4) allowed two runs in 4 2/3 innings to earn the run-rule win in seven innings.

Josh Jung, Grant Little and Braxton Fulford had two hits each for the Red Raiders, who face Oklahoma State in the loser's bracket on Thursday. Ryan Sublette (0-3) allowed four runs in one inning.
