The full slate of spring football games continues today with a look at some more going on this week.
Today
Plano, 7 p.m.
The Wildcats went 9-1 in the regular season before getting an unfortunate playoff draw and getting fellow national powerhouse Euless Trinity in the second round of the playoffs in what was one of the most anticipated games of the year. Trinity came out on top, 42-35, ending the Wildcats' season prematurely. Plano loses all of its big offensive weapons, most notably running back Rex Burkhead, who has been the unofficial "Mr. DFW Football" for the past two seasons. He signed with Nebraska. The Wildcats also lose quarterback Carson Meger, who led 5A area passers last season and receiver Kris Lott, who signed with Stephen F. Austin. They obviously have a lot to replace, but as in years past, it shouldn't be too difficult to do.
Lake Highlands, 6:30 p.m.
After going 8-2 in the regular season, the Wildcats went three rounds deep in the playoffs before bowing out to Klein Oak, in convincing fashion (34-10). The Wildcats return quarterback Ricky Zorn, who was one of the area's top dual threats with 1,099 rushing yards (21 touchdowns) and 1,962 yards passing with 22 touchdowns.
Haltom, 7 p.m., Birdville FAAC
The Buffalos have been down for a while now and last year was no different, as they finished the season 2-8. They had some close losses, but then suffered some blowouts as well such as a 37-0 loss to Flower Mound and a 70-6 loss to Abilene.
Friday
Grand Prairie, 6 p.m.
The Gophers have a lot to look forward to, mainly erasing from their memories the events of last season, when they won just one game against fellow one-win team Irving Nimitz.

Richardson Berkner, 6 p.m.
The Rams went 7-3 in the regular season before bowing out to Garland in the first round of the playoffs, losing 27-3. They have a few guys back, but will make their living on defense. The Rams had the best team defense among area 5A teams, giving up just 211 yards per game to their opponents.
