AirHogs Win Title the Hardest Way Possible

Just four years into their existence and the Grand Prairie AirHogs have won their first title.

The Hogs won the 2011 American Association Championship the hard way, the nearly impossible way, by coming back from being down 0-2 in a best of five series.

The Hogs improbably won games 3, 4 and 5 against the St. Paul Saints, giving them their first American Association Championship.  Game 5 was played Monday night in Grand Prairie and brings the title back to North Texas for the first time since 2007 when the Fort Worth Cats were the champs for a second-straight year.

The title is the second for manager Ricky Van Asselberg, who won the 2010 title last year while managing the Shreveport-Bossier Captains.  On a side note, Van Asselberg was married on the AirHogs field last month -- see more here.
