Air Hogs Emerge Victorious in Last Game of Series

The Cats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Ryan Patterson drew a two-out walk and then scored from first on a double off the left-field wall by first baseman John Allen.

The AirHogs rallied for two runs of their own in the first. Three of the first four batters reached against Cats' starter Jae Jung before Gabriel singled home two for a 2-1 Grand Prairie lead.

Gabriel struck again in the fourth inning as he hit a lead-off home run, his third of the season for a 3-1 advantage. The AirHogs made it 4-1 in the fifth as Aaron Garza was hit by a pitch to start the inning and later came around to score on an RBI single by Cesar Nicolas.

The Cats climbed to within a run in the seventh inning as Patterson slugged a two-run homer to left, his seventh of the season. The Cats loaded the bases later in the inning, but failed to get the tying run home from third. Fort Worth had plenty of scoring opportunities throughout the game and wound up leaving 14 men on base.

Kieran Mattison notched his fourth win of the season for Grand Prairie as he went 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on six hits. James Morrison worked the final 1 1/3 innings to pick up his seventh save of the season.

Jae Jung went eight innings in a complete-game loss. He permitted four runs on nine hits while striking out three and not walking a batter. He did retire the final nine batters he faced, but suffers his first loss in a Cats' uniform as his record fell to 3-1.

Pat Oโ€™Sullivanโ€™s ninth-inning single extended his league-record hitting streak to 24. Brian Fryer was 2-for-5 for a 19-game streak.
