After Shoplifting Arrest, It's Time To Cut Lucky Whitehead

It’s time to cut Lucky Whitehead.

He is just a guy. He's not essential to the Dallas Cowboys.

"Character is critical with us, with the Dallas Cowboys." Jason Garrett said to the media, at the opening training camp press conference. "We have built this team with great character guys. We have 90 players and we love the character,"

Less than 24 hours later, TMZ Sports reported Whitehead was arrested for petty theft last month in Virginia.

Sunday Garrett said, "There is a standard around here," and Monday he had to answer questions about a wide receiver/kick returner who didn’t alert him to his arrest and is dealing with a warrant for not showing up for his court date.

The court date has been reset to Aug. 10, per court records; he will have to leave training camp to get it taken care of.

It’s time to cut the 25-year-old.

Somebody has to pay for another embarrassing moment for the organization. The Cowboys drafted receiver/kick returner, Ryan Switzer, this year so the chance for Whitehead to make the 2017 club was already slim.

Owner/enabler Jerry Jones has the perfect person to cut in Whitehead. Somebody needs to the fall guy after an offseason of arrests, suspensions and investigations for conduct of several Cowboys players.

Jones isn’t going to cut Zeke Elliott, Damien Wilson, Randy Gregory or David Irving. Jones can get another camp body who can return kicks and be a backup receiver. This is why Lucky Whitehead makes the decision easy for Jones… he must go.
