A Look at This Week's Spring Games

Spring game season kicks into full gear

With spring football game schedules really ramping up this week for teams that elected to do spring football (4A and 5A teams only), here's a list of some upcoming games this week. More will be examined later in the week.

Tuesday:

Hurst L.D. Bell, 5:30 p.m.

The Raiders started last season with all kinds of promise, and were on the verge of getting on the same area scale as their neighbors to the east (Euless Trinity). The Raiders started off 5-0 before dropping two straight to Justin Northwest and Colleyville Heritage. They then beat Keller and Keller Fossil Ridge before playing Trinity close in a 10-point loss. Then, the Raiders bowed out of the playoffs in the first round to Hebron. They return Kenny Farrow, who will just be a junior and rushed for 1,384 yards and 16 touchdowns in the 11 games last season as a sophomore.

West Mesquite, 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium

The Wranglers went 6-4 last season before losing to DeSoto in the first round of the postseason, but did have big wins over district foes Red Oak and Lancaster.

Arlington Lamar, 2 p.m.

The Vikings went 5-5 and missed the playoffs and will start the journey to try to regain the mystique that Eddy Peach built for the Vikings. Lamar will still have the services of running back Ja'Terian Douglas, who put up some monster numbers last year as a junior, eclipsing 2,000 yards and scoring 28 touchdowns in just 10 games.

More to come on Tuesday.
